1 ½ cups granulated sugar divided
¾ cup water | |
3 medium oranges (zested)
2 cups fresh cranberries |
Preparation
1
Zest the zest of three oranges into a medium saucepan.
2
Add 3/4 cup of sugar to the saucepan.
Pour in the water.
Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat.
3
Once boiling, reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for approximately five minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
4
Turn off the heat completely, and gently stir in the cranberries until they are fully coated in the sugar syrup (this should take about 45 seconds).
Use a slotted spoon to carefully remove the cranberries from the syrup, allowing any excess syrup to drain back into the saucepan.
5
Transfer the coated cranberries to a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
Allow the cranberries to dry for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, they will become slightly tacky.
6
Once dried, roll the cranberries in the remaining sugar until they are fully coated with a sparkling, sugary layer.
Your Sugared Cranberries are now ready to be enjoyed as a delightful garnish or snack!
