There is a reason why fans of Chick-Fil-A are super passionate about their chicken sandwiches – they’re simply delicious! This homemade Chick-fil-A Crispy chicken sandwich is a classic and delicious sandwich that everyone will crave! I was never a fast-food person, but a couple of years back, I worked in a company that offered their employees free lunch. The employees were allowed to choose what type of food they wanted for that day! For three weeks of the month, Chick-F-Fil was on top of places to order!
That was the first time I tried the chicken sandwich. It was really good, and now I understand what all the fuss is about! As we all know, Chick-Fil-A is not open on Sundays, but with this tasty recipe, you could make a similar fried chicken sandwich for yourself and your family at any day or time of the week!
I made this recipe 10 times to perfect the recipe and ensure you can make the best juicy, crispy, tasty chicken sandwich. I know many recipes only use pickle juice for chicken brine. But I found that adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the pickle juice will make the chicken breast even more tender than just pickle juice. This chicken sandwich recipe makes the most amazing crispy sandwich that will have all of your friends and family hooked!
Tips For The Best Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich
- When you cut the chicken breast in halves lengthwise, pound them on the thick side to let them cook evenly when frying.
- Brine the chicken in a Ziplock bag for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator. Shake them around a couple of times.
- Pat dry the chicken pieces before you start breading.
- The first layer on the chicken should have a very thin layer of the breading mix. This will help prevent the crust from getting soggy when frying.
- For the best result, double dip the batter and go from dry to wet to dry to wet to dry.
- There’s more breading mix in this recipe than you need. If you use less, the flour mix will become wet from the egg mixture. The result is a soggy crust. While flouring, scoop aside any wet ingredients in the breading to keep the mixture dry!
How to Make Crispy Fried Chicken?
There are many different ways to fry chicken, but here are my top tips for making the best-fried chicken. Bring the chicken to room temperature before you fry them. Otherwise, the temperature of your oil will drop dramatically and slow down the frying process. Before frying the chicken, make sure the temperature of the oil is between 360F to 375 F. It will likely drop 25 degrees when you add the chicken. The perfect frying temperature is 350F. As you’re cooking your chicken, make sure you do not overcrowd your chicken. It is best to work in batches, and it should only take about 8 minutes to get done.
How to Make The Chicken Sandwich Spicy?
This recipe makes a mild chicken sandwich, but you can adjust the heat to your taste. You can either add a spicy sauce as a condiment to your buns or make it spicier by adding more chili and hot sauce. Adding more sriracha hot sauce to the chicken brine or the chick-fil-a sauce will give the sandwich a bit of a kick.
Preparation
Start with chicken first, cut in halves, and pound the thick part of the breast. Place in a zip lock bag; add the pickle juice, vinegar, and sriracha sauce, close the bag, and give it a shake. Keep in the refrigerator for two hours but no more than 4 hours.
Make the sauce and keep in the refrigerator until ready to use
Using a shallow dish, combine all the ingredients for the breading mix.
In a deep bowl, whisk together the buttermilk with the egg, salt, white pepper, and the sriracha sauce.
Working one piece at a time, dip the chicken into the egg mixture. Hold above the bowl to remove the excess liquid, place it in the breading mix, coat thoroughly, tap off any excess, and then repeat the process again.
Place the breaded chicken into the 375 F degree oil, fry for about 8 to 10 minutes, turning each piece about halfway through
Remove from the oil and place on paper towels. Let them rest for 5 minutes before assembling your sandwich by toasting the buns. Then spread the sauce on both sides, and arrange the lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, and crispy fried chicken. Enjoy!
