Best Mediterranean Oven-baked Chicken Drumsticks for Dinner Parties

Mediterranean oven-baked chicken drumsticks are moist, flavorful, and super easy to make. Even those who do not usually cook can make this recipe! The crispy, flavorful skin and juicy dark meat make this dish a family favorite. 

The seasonings on these oven-baked drumsticks are inspired by Turkish spices and flavors. Although it may seem like there are lots of spices, they all blend together to create the ultimate depth of flavor. If you like these seasonings, you can also use the combination to marinate a whole chicken. 

Oven-baked chicken drumsticks are perfect for feeding a crowd since they are more filling than chicken wings. Give the drumsticks at least 4 hours to marinate in the seasoning for the best results. How to Season Chicken Drumsticks

There are plenty of seasonings that pair well with chicken drumsticks. They can be seasoned exactly how chicken wings would normally be seasoned. You can use ranch seasoning, lemon pepper, Cajun seasoning, garlic herb, BBQ, or come up with your own seasoning. This Mediterranean oven-baked chicken uses a mix of Turkish-inspired seasonings with the perfect balance of flavors.

12 pieces chicken drumstick
½ cup yogurt
2 tablespoons red pepper paste
1 tablespoon dry oregano
½ teaspoon chili flakes
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon Aleppo pepper
1 teaspoon sumac
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon salt
10 cloves roasted garlic (smashed plus 2 tablespoons extra olive oil)
Juice of 1 lemon


Soak and wash the drumstick with white vinegar and salt, rinse well and pat dry.

In a large bowl, add all the spices, the yogurt, roasted garlic, olive oil, and lemon juice until the ingredients are fully incorporated.

Add the chicken drumstick and mix well; let it set in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

Preheat the oven to 375 F, arrange the chicken drumstick in a deep pan. Cook for about 25 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165.

How to Make Yogurt-feta Dipping Sauce?
In a medium-size bowl, mix 11/2 cup of greek yogurt with 1 clove of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint, 1 tablespoon dry dill, half cup of feta cheese, and juice of one lime and one lemon. Add salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle with sumac!

If you happen to have leftovers, you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. To reheat chicken drumsticks, you can either microwave them, put them in the oven, or heat them in the air fryer. If you reheat them in the microwave, heat them for about a minute at a time until they are warm. Using the oven or air fryer is generally a better method for reheating chicken since they will make the skin crispy. To reheat chicken drumsticks, heat them in an oven or air fryer at 375 degrees. The oven will take about 15 minutes, and the air fryer will take anywhere from 6-8 minutes.
