My daughter always asked me why we didn’t make pecan granola! When I started the granola company, we had 12 flavors, none of which were pecan. While I love pecans, I somehow never got around to creating a pecan granola. I’m not quite sure why! It is delicious.
Loving what you do for work can be incredibly satisfying. But sometimes, it can also make what was once special; boring and repetitive. I have made so much granola in my life that I sometimes feel like I don’t want to see another piece of oat again! Many years after starting my granola company, my daughter was craving some. While she was visiting, I decided to surprise her and make 2 lbs of maple pecan granola to take home.
Is Granola Vegan?
For the most part, granola is vegan. However, you should always check the ingredients to make sure there isn’t any butter, honey, or chocolate chips that may contain dairy. The best way to make sure your granola is vegan is to make your own! This maple pecan granola recipe is completely vegan and super easy to make.
Granola Variations
Type of oats – you can either use regular oats or gluten-free oats.
Add-ins – Granola tastes bests when it has ingredients you love. Experiment with different mix-ins such as dried cranberries, apples, raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, and peanut butter.
Flavor – when making granola, you can flavor it with cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar, maple syrup, or even butter. If you want to add butter to this granola recipe, just melt it and mix it with maple syrup.
Oil – use either olive oil or coconut oil for granola.
Can you Freeze Your Pecan Granola?
The best part of granola is that it can be frozen and stored for later! Store it in an airtight container and keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Make sure to label the bag with the date so you can make sure it stays fresh. When you want to eat the granola, take it out of the freezer and leave it on the counter overnight. This will allow the granola to defrost.
What to Serve With Maple Pecan Granola?
When it comes to granola, there are numerous ways you can eat it. Pack it in a ziplock bag and eat it alone as a snack or add it as a topping for yogurt or ice cream. Either way, granola is a simple and healthy snack that will keep you full and happy.
Are All Oats Gluten-free?
Yes, all oats are technically gluten-free. While oats themselves do not have any gluten, they can sometimes come into contact with other grains that contain gluten. If you are gluten intolerant or have any sensitivities to gluten, it is best to buy oats that are specifically labeled as gluten-free.
